There was a lot happening in Chicago in 1893. The first Ferris wheel was unveiled at the World’s Fair, and Henry Lueders founded H. Lueders & Company, distributing kerosene and other oils from a horse-drawn wagon.
By 1920, his company expanded to a new location on the northwest side of Chicago, and changed the company name to Sunnyside Corporation. Over the years, this company pioneered the packaging of solvents and chemicals for consumer use, and now dominates their categories throughout the United States with a full line of thinners, solvents, paint removers, cleaners, mildew treatments and paint additives marketed under several household brands.
Sunnyside Corporation’s digital presence needed an upgrade, so they contacted us to help with front end coding and design, to work in partnership with their in-house development team.
Our job with design was to focus on the “client side” of the website to ensure a seamless user experience. We were concerned with the impression visitors first see in their browser: the look, feel and overall design of the site.
We presented the client with two very different design concepts: one traditional and one modern, with a recommendation for the modern design. We made the case that this design best accomplished their goal of selling more products online, while also impressing their contacts at the big box stores who decided how much shelf space their products received.
As we integrated seamlessly with Sunnyside’s internal development team, we researched current website visitors’ behavior to design navigation to flow customers easily through the site, and took a deep dive into analytics to maximize this new online sales funnel.
We evaluated the current traffic’s clicks, taps and scrolling behavior to understand what users search for and interact with on the site. Each brand received their own dedicated landing page to boost online sales and increase conversion rates.
Ultimately, we suggested a refresh of the site’s content to align with the new copy for each brand page. With this, we built a full SEO package from scratch, analyzing the site in a way that had not been done before. Every page was optimized to drive more traffic and increase online sales from organic search, while improving the visibility of Sunnyside corporation across the web.

The end result is a site that moves Sunnyside’s legacy brands into the future, increasing online sales and representing their products to appeal to the modern consumer.
